Brooklyn DOB In-person Industry Meeting

Please RSVP and submit questions to galea.arch@gmail.com. Submit questions by Thursday, March 20th, 2025 no later than 1:00 PM. Please specify when you RSVP if you will attend in-person or call-in.

There will be a call-in number for those who cannot attend in-person. Please note that those who call-in will not be able to actively participate in the meeting, it will be listen only.

Brooklyn DOB Industry Meeting Guidelines

Questions are limited to ten (10) per month. Questions will be submitted on a first come first serve basis. Any questions received that exceed ten (10) will be discussed at the meeting if time allowsor will be submitted the following month.
All questions shall be submitted via email to galea.arch@gmail.com no later than Thursday at 1:00 PM, the week preceding the scheduled meeting.
Questions submitted may NOT be project or application specific. Questions should be generic with respect to clarifications on zoning, code, or technical issues.
Virtual or in person meetings will be limited to one (1) hour each month from 2:00-3:00 PM, unless otherwise noted in advance.
Attendees must be licensed professionals.
Minutes of the meeting cannot be used to waive objections with plan examiners.
One (1) CEU will be provided for all attendees.

AIA Brooklyn COTE Committee Meetings takes place the first Tuesday of each month. Anyone interested in issues and events related to sustainability and the environment are welcome to attend.

The April meeting will be in person in the Eco Lab at the Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center. The meeting is aligned with the Earth Day 2025 theme of “Our Power, Our Planet”, which supports the tripling of renewable energy by 2030 by championing solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, and tidal generated energy.

The meeting will include a discussion on one of four topics – vote below for what you want to talk about!

The role of drones in reality capture and building documentation continues to evolve rapidly every year. With billions of dollars in research and development going towards the unmanned aerial vehicle industry, many previously cost-prohibitive services are now within reach of most architects and building industry professionals. FAA-certified pilots can help you leverage drones to the fullest, and when combined with an exterior building scan using terrestrial laser scanning, architects and building owners often find that aerial drone surveys can be a great complement or alternative to a full 3D Revit model or CAD exterior elevations. In this course, the team from Existing Conditions will provide attendees with the information they need to leverage drone technology to properly evaluate the conditions of their buildings through the use of photographic, thermographic, and photogrammetric data.
