A LITTLE BLACK

In honor of Black History Month i offer a list of 10 African American Architects whose work has shaped America.

The Architect at the end of the article, Roberta Washington, is a friend of a friend; and i have had the honor of meeting her!

P.S. The article(s) also links to the current issue of Architzer. If you scroll, let me know if you find anything else interesting!

A LITTLE WHITE

I heard recently (thanks to a U-Tube rabbit hole) that Frank Lloyd Wright, the ONLY Architect EVERYONE has heard of; designed over a thousand buildings and constructed almost half of them!

His personal home was located in Spring Green, Wisconsin and was called “Taliesin”; the Welsh word for “shining brow”. Most books and articles about the house contain the usual, well worn, photos of the exterior.

However, the attached U-Tube video(s) gives an unprecedented tour of the interior; with some spaces that have never been shown before.

It is a little long, but grab a snack, settle into your comfy chair, a spend a moment on the Shining Brow.

A LITTLE SNOW

I am not a fan of winter.

I think the only advantage winter has over summer … is additional pockets.

But occasionally … it does photograph well!
